North Sydney
August 18th 1999
- Name 3 ways of learning and practicing how to stay centred and
grounded, and ready to calm panicky fellow-passengers when the elevator stops in a local
hotel during New Years Eve celebration?
- How might unprepared citizens in your town react to interruptions in
their electricity or transportation?
- If washing machines or dry-cleaning were not available for one month,
what would you do?
- The school bus fleet for your public school system has many old,
inactive buses. Name three Y2K related opportunities that these buses might serve?
These are a first grab at the hundreds of Y2K related questions we
looked at this evening. We have acquired a game called "Y2K Connections"
Building Community, not crises.
It consists of over a hundred cards that, when played, challenged us with potential
real-life Y2K disruptions and we discovered some rather innovative solutions while
exploring some diverse scenarios and perspectives.
An excellent way of helping us build a sense of community in preparation for whatever the
Y2K event might bring forth.
The back of these cards, when arranged correctly makes a jig saw of
the world as seen from space. Some of our players were more intent on putting the
world together and the significance of that metaphor did not escape us.
If anybody would like to have a look at this game or hear more about
it, just call Noel on 9819 7914.
It's lots of fun and VERY illuminating.
The next North Sydney event will be on Wednesday September 15th. |
