Conversation at Springwood

Sunday  13th February 2000

It was a rocking meeting with 10 in all, despite absentees, so the 4 new people were most welcome. I say rocking as they turned up with immediate concern/interest in the day's agenda and what actions had we planned and so on. I arrived to find Leonie in a bit of shock and certainly relieved to see me. Halena was also hiding her head a bit as we have not ever started a meeting in that way, unbeknown to the new arrivals.

I immediately rolled out the topic of Caretakers, as the train journey had allowed me time to read the 10 pages I had just received, which was met with positive responses all round. From there we reached agreement to ask Chris to come and join us to talk at greater depth and length about the whole subject. A good start. I did seem to monopolise the floor for a while then slowly others, new and known, joined in.

The next main discussion was whether we were meant to do what pleased us, as individuals, in spite of the possible hurt or lack of acceptance of others. this lead to some stimulating exchanges and total skepticism of me and upholding such a proposal. Eventually, almost at the close, I got the opportunity to explain that this was a prime factor for me and that, naturally and of course, one had to take responsibility for the actions/words/thoughts one had in the process of being authentic and pleasing oneself. We all settled down to some food and vertical chit chat, as opposed to seated, not horizontal, and parted friends. Not all will be returning as two did say that they really wanted action and we did not appear to be headed towards any soon.

I could go on about how good it was for me though Leonie and Halena, the only other regulars, expressed their enjoyment of the day and will be happy to see others return too. At about that stage, Brian turned up to offer me a lift home. I had been invited to lunch with Leonie, her husband Tony and a friend so said no thanks and he was then invited to stay too and a delightful continuation of the morning happened. That was the surprise part for me and made the effort of turning up in the first place all the more worthwhile. Finally Jenni arrived as planned and finished the afternoon/early evening with us.

Catch you at some stage no doubt Noel.
