Lunch Time Chat at St James Ethics Centre

Wednesday May 19th

This event did not produce a cohesive title but moved through a series of topics that engaged our thoughts.

Some of the points that came out of the discussions were:

We must start taking into account, measures other than money.   In fact it is imperative that we redress our view of economics altogether.

Economics more than just cost.  Our attention would better serve us centred on building sustaining and healthy communities.

Most of the personal solutions seem to be little more than band aiding to bigger problems.

Need for personal change before embarking on the larger ambition of making a difference.  A need for support while going through this process.  Need to hang out with like minds.

One of our number had a history of being a rebel and a radical.   Didn't seem to work and maybe we all need to learn to listen.

The concept of work to be regarded as a privilege rather than a right.  People not to be seen as a resource to feed the economy.

Need for us to be better role models that include a sense of responsibility for kids and to teach them about creating a vision for the future.   Also we need to give kids a sense of self esteem and knowing who they are.

The next lunch time chat at the St James Ethics Centre will be   on Wednesday June 16th at 12.30 pm.
