Balmain

May 20th

We had an enjoyable conversation on the 20th May, with12 people in Frances's lounge room so it was a full house. It was a particularly fun evening with participant being in playful mode. Some of the themes of our conversation were

Should we be concerned about the millennium bug. Some felt it was all a lot of hype, others felt it was real concern and something we have to prepare for. Others felt it was useful to help us consider and prepare for disasters that may occur and felt that the Balmain Conversation group was perhaps a good place to build relationships with like minded people who live in similar areas and who would already have a good relationship to work together should a disaster hit.

Some participants discussed how they felt very worried about the world
situation. Other participants postulated an alternative viewpoint that
everything is actually perfect. This lead to an interesting discussion
with some people leaving the conversation feeling somewhat relieved that perhaps they could unload their heavy worrying mode of being.

Another point of discussion was that at present we think in a linear
fashion but to progress in the future we have to think more of patterns.

(From a facilitators point of view we had a group of people who were all
familiar with the Robert Theobald work so I shortened my introduction and omitted the bit about speaking from our hearts and listening with respect. The tone of the conversation was a little different than normal with less respect shown in small but identifiable ways. A good lesson in realizing the value of this input in the introduction and that we all need to be reminded of this fact to help us to achieve it.)
