Opening event for Australia Connects series.
North Sydney

Nov 17th 1999

A very spirited Conversation this evening.  People took the opportunity to express their special concerns for the coming millennium and talked of such interests as:
Community Development and cross cultural issues.
Corporations not being geared to deal with such matters as Soul, Heart and Spirit of community.
Work and how we cope with it.  Taking time out for reflection and freedom.
Health and in particular the health of our environment and it's effect on the health of people.
Ideology of the market as having some advantages but that the disadvantages are mostly hidden or semi hidden.

The big event for this conversation was an energetic discussion around the rise and fall of regimes which included the 'economic' regime.   "Demons and change. Which is which?"
The title for the evening might have read, "Market Forces. To what extent can we rely on them?"

A whip round for a description of the evening brought up, "Lively"  "Beautiful complexity"   "Acceptable diversity"  "Fun"  "Exciting"

All in all, one of our more stimulated conversations.

The next meeting at this venue in North Sydney will be on January 26th  2000.
