Two new people attended our meeting tonight.   We had a wide ranging discussion which seemed to keep coming back to the issue of power within human nature. Two points of view were expressed. One was that hierarchical structures and the quest for power are inherent within the human psyche. The other was that power can be understood as the ability to act, as competence and autonomy, in other words in terms of personal power, rather than "power over".

The question was posed, how can ideas create an energy that gives them enough life to filter into the mainstream of social and political thought? Does any system have within it an energy that resists change?

The date of the next meeting will be forthcoming.  We are unsure at this point in time if we can hold one in November, but there will certainly be a December date.
